Game ~ Tales of Time
My very first proper jump and run game. For the last year I was experimenting with a proper engine and I'm very pleased with the result. I completely redesign and restructured the engine from the minigame of LoP3.1.
The game will consist of four main Hubs - each with a certain amount of levels and one boss stage. The main aspect of the game is that every hub plays in a different timezone. It’s really fun coming up with art designs for the different eras. Right now I'm working on a pirate-themed world and a wild west world planned.
You control Tom and have too collect keyitems in each level while defeating enemies and searching the level for hidden goodies and minigames. You can doublejump, climb ladders, push objects and use magic to overcome your obstacles. I also am going to include a way to upgrade the player’s abilities.
A story is planned and is very likely too be humour-based like my LoP games but right now I'm going to concentrate on the game itself.
The main problems I have at the moment are performance issues. I have to split a level in multiple tiles to prevent it from lagging out. Very tedious task and since this is my very first attempt in a big platformer I don't know how much a web browser can take when enemies and the player are moving around in a big level.
The game is still in very early stage – I’m mostly working with placeholder graphics for animated characters. The engine is finished but I'm adding some new features every now and then. Right now I'm building the levelstructures for every world.
